EX30 in-depth reviews and drive tests are available following Volvo’s press event in Barcelona.

Auto Car:
Volvo launches small electric crossover which is extremely stylish, drives very well, but is let down by poor interior functionality

Car Magazine:
Who would have expected the EV bargain of the year to come from Volvo? This is a high-quality, solid-feeling EV with acceptable driving manners, a high-spec interior, and excellent performance, at a price that gives budget brands cause for concern.

What Car?
The EX30 stands out in the electric car crowd not just because of its sleek looks and premium Volvo badge, but because its starting price undercuts all its closest competitors.

Auto Express:
We love the Volvo EX30. It’s a great small EV at a comparable price to a petrol model, but it’s just a really fun thing to be in. It drives nicely, looks great and is built well, and its clever use of sustainable materials is a plus. Only the over-reliance on the touchscreen and the tight rear space let the side down, but this is one of the most desirable EVs you can buy at a really desirable price.

Good review. I like the overall range he was getting in the single motor version. I wish the price difference wasn't as much between RWD and AWD here in the US ($6,000!!). If it was $3,000 I would probably get the AWD, but then again I am driving a PHEV with 150hp so anything is an upgrade!

I wanted an Ultra - but not at this cost uplift!

An extra £8250 = $10,150 - you're forced to have the larger battery

I was shocked when I saw that picture, then read the text that you'd have to get the bigger battery. Here in the US we only get the big battery and the difference in price between Plus and Ultra is $1,700. I suppose power seats, Park Pilot Assist, 360 camera, Pilot assist and lane change assist, and the different interior might be worth it, but I don't need it.

I think there's more value to the $3,950 upgrade from Core to Plus here in the US, especially if there is no a la carte menu to pick the auto dimming mirrors (inside and out), 2 zone climate, etc. If it was $3,950 for just 19" wheels, glass roof, and the Harman Kardon sound system, I'd say no thanks.

The UK uplift from Plus Extended to Ultra is £2,450 = $3,000

Pilot Assist is standard on Plus (both versions) in the UK but the USA is unique in having the panoramic roof as standard on the Plus. Hence that's included in the price upgrade. The UK Ultra in addition to your points also has faster AC charging, Tinted rear side windows, Low speed rear autobrake, and 20" wheels (up from 19" on the Plus Extended).

I would have LOVED the 360 cameras and the panoramic roof but not the rest and definitely not the 20" wheels.

We don't yet have the Core model in the UK but even if we had I'd have gone to the Plus because of:

Moss Yellow - not available on Core
Alternative Rooms - I'm having Pine - not available on Core
Harmon Kardon
Phone key plus
Front parking assistance
Ambience lighting
Electric tailgate
Phone charging
Rear USB sockets
Auto-dimming mirrors
2-zone climate
Pilot Assist
Lane change assist
Black roof and mirrors

A SIGNIFICANT upgrade for not a great deal more - around €3,000 (German price) = £2,600 = $3,200
