Hi all,
new to here...
Hi, on many occasions when I first get into the car and engaged drive the car will start accelerating on its own, as well as this I'm encountering when 1 foot pedal driving it disengaged the car still accelerates sporadically. Has anyone else encounted this before?
As well as these two dangerous main issues, I have many many issues to follow if they haven't been covered already..
Stop
Phantom acceleration
Hi Nickyboy71, not heard of this or experienced but I have only had my car just over two weeks...Sounds like you need to get your car checked out? I think I have been lucky with technical issues apart from an outage on the audio which has now rectified itself...fingers crossed everything is working reasonably well.

Yes, been there seen this. In my case it was because I was switching on the pilot assist before starting off. It would be on standby till about 8mph and then would pick up from there and accelerate to 20mph on its own. Pressing the brake would disable it at once.

I could be wrong, but I suspect there is nothing actually wrong with the car.
The problem is that most of us have graduated from manual transmission ICE cars to the EX30. We expect a car to stay still unless we press the accelerator.
Anyone used to driving automatic transmission knows that the car has three modes - D, P and R. In D and R the car will always drive (or reverse) unless the brake pedal is pressed. There is no need to press the accelerator to make the car move. On flat ground the only way to stop it moving is to keep the brake pedal pressed or take it out of D or R and change to P. (Slopes are different and require a "hill start" by pressing the accelerator.) This is exactly the way the EX30 acts when not in OPD.
I wish Volvo hadn't followed automatic transmission convention for the EX30, but they have.
OPD is different.
OPD "R" still follows the same convention. On level ground it creeps back unless you apply the brake. On a slope it waits for a "hill start" using the accelerator.
OPD "D" is stupid. If you have your seat belt on it waits for you to press the accelerator. If you do not have your seat belt on it follows the automatic transmission and goes into creep mode
Stupid, but not faulty.

Welcome to this forum.
Certainly one's seatbelt has to be on to avoid creep.
Could you please explain in a bit more detail what's happening?

Not only, there is a Hold mode as well when OPD is not enabled:

Hello all
I am also new to this channel and just received my white SMER Ultra a week ago.
When accelerating from a stop, I have also had the experience of phantom acceleration at very low speeds. The acceleration felt suddenly greater at 5km/h than what I would have expected considering the light way I pressed the pedal. It was a slight acceleration, not too worrying but definitely not normal either. It has happened 2 times within the last few days. Hence, I have brought the problem to Volvo's attention.
I have to mention that we have owned an E208 for four years now and rented TM3 on weekends, so we are a bit accustomed to electric vehicles.

Thanks all for your replys
I initially thought I must be pressing something on the steering wheel hence why the car would accelerate, so i thought I'd give the Car the benefit of the doubt but unfortunately this has not been the case as it's doing it sporadically and since the latest 1.4 update whilst one pedal driving is engaged the car from standstill would just start to accelerate on its own.
Unfortunately, it seems I am an early adapter here in Cyprus when I purchase the vehicle approximately 5 months or so ago and I have been inundated with so many problems.
With the mentioned above my car also allows me to play YouTube whilst in motion! As well as this my courtesy lights randomly work, my proximity sensor as you're probably all aware is very hit and miss. The screen itself has displayed techno vertical colours as well as a black screen and the complete loss of audio controls on several occasions. also the home screen icon bottom right took the liberty in doing a disappearing act on one occasion too.
