Having read hundreds of reviews and watched hundreds of videos on YouTube, I think I have seen all the possible problems and complaints that people have with this car. It is true that it took about 5 days for the Internet connection and the app to work. Once everything was connected, the truth is that so far I have not found any of the problems mentioned in the car. Neither, the problems with the central locking, nor the high consumption, no problem with the "autopilot" (it's a real blast), the charging is perfect, spotify doesn't cut off, the phone calls are as expected, the autohold on slopes, not even the Concentration warnings get in the way, the rearview mirrors...yes, I miss the tilt down in reverse...and no, I don't miss a HUD, nor buttons, nor levers, etc. etc. It seems like a luxury to drive. Silent, agile and that feeling that the car is weightless. It has so much power and torque that uphill slopes do not exist. It invites very calm, quiet, agile, and silent driving, but you always know that on the accelerator you have at your disposal the ability to resolve situations with a light pressure.
So far I'm very happy, I'm just worried about the dashboard upholstery, that kind of neoprene, is a magnet for stains.
As people always write, legitimately, just to complain about something, I decided to write about how happy I am with the EX30. There will be time to discover and suffer bad things.
Opinión after a week and a long trip.
Harald,
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, especially some of us who spent £45,000 on a car to be missing features standard on £20,000 cars (Apple CarPlay etc) and for those of us moving from £50,000 cars expecting iPhone digital key etc.
Even reversing tilt mirrors were standard on my Citroen C4 back in 2008!
1.4 v is an improvement and most frustrations are from people on earlier versions and again some of them are truly valid.
I’ve been honest with my opinions, despite a few foibles my ultra performance is genuinely great, but it’s not as practical as my Model 3, technology / software not as advanced and given the high riding position, not as good in the corners not as efficient in terms of miles/kwh and given this is a brand spanking EV built from the ground up, it shows how good the Model 3 was when launched in 2017. That said in a straight line it’s hilarious! I really like our EX30 but it’s missing quality of life features which detract from the whole ownership experience.
Suggest you join us in finding things to moan about then Volvo more likely to fix them!!

I see Volvo are telling everyone with an order for the EX90 - priced at about £95,000 - that it won't have CarPlay either (as well as some other things) when it first comes out in October or so. Presumably this is so they can cancel their orders in advance if they don't like the ommission - and therefore have no grounds for complaint if they don't cancel.
I agree about the dipping mirrors. My last Volvo (2019) had them. The EX30 has motorised mirrors as standard, so all it takes is a software alteration to lower them along with activating the cameras when reverse is activated. If enough of us give feedback about this (I already have) maybe they will act.

I don't think that in the EX30 mirror (left o right depending on driver side) there is a motorized pivot that allows to lower it.
Moreover the side camera is placed on the bottom of the mirror and if this is rotated the 360° imagine would be distorted (experienced that on my previous XC40)... but anyway in this way one could see the sidewalk...

I have just checked the mirrors on my (UK) car.
Both mirrors are motorised for up/down as well as in/out.
The camera is not mounted on the moving bit of the mirror, it is on the underside of the fixed mount attached to the door and so does not move when the mirror is adjusted. (Unlike the kerbside illumination light which is on the mirror housing itself and does move.)
Therefore a software update could be made to adjust the mirrors to 'reversing mode'.

Great review Harald. I must say I generally agree with you!

I am not too keen on the neoprene material and whilst I find it cleans up easy enough it does show marks very easily particularly on the door arm rests. Good job I enjoy cleaning my car...I am really enjoying the car, especially the amazing running costs...BUT...
Close your ears and don't read on if you are a true Volvo fanatic...I would return to BMW in a heartbeat if my financial luck changed, there I have said and hopefully it doesn't upset anyone

Volvo EX30, Onyx Black, Ultra, Twin Performance v1.4.
I believe the main differences are that the EX30 emblem is removed from the left and right rear shoulders of the car and replaced with one on the rear left hand side. There are some slight raised plastic areas on the steering button controls to better negotiate the functions and the Pano roof can be added as an extra on the Plus model. I think I have remembered everything but other forum members will add to the post if necessary
