I am a core-enjoyer. Bought core extended range. And was dissapointed to learn that Core does not have passive entry. Oh well, I can't blame anyone but myself for not reading the speccs properly. Although it is a strange solution they have where you have to unlock the car by physically toching the door. Our second car Suzuki from 2007 has a way better solution with a "wireless" key.

Anyways. My question is: do any of you know if there will be an option to upgrade to this function for core-users?

Unlikely, as to reduce the cost of the core model, Volvo probably ommitted the physical UWB hardware and associated wiring from the car.

Yeah, my thoughts to. I guess my best bet is to hope that there will come some other keys, like classical car keys. which are waaay better than the key cards!

Curiously, in the USA/Canada EX30 online manual currently there is no mention of using the key tag for remotely lock and unlock the car.
The key tag instructions say to use the key just only like the card, placing it on the driver's door pillar...

Anyway, about the Volvo european online support pages what bothers me is that the EX90 manual already includes instructions on how to setup and use the digital key, whereas in the EX30 manual there's still nothing...
AFAIK, the digital key is already working for the EX90, but currently only for the iPhone users.

At the moment only Apple Wallet is supported by Volvo, no other Android UWB phones (EX90 users reported experience).

I have updated to the new version 1.5 in Spain. After updating I received a notification in the EX30 application with the following text: The configuration parameters of the CCC digital key of your vehicle are ready, please check it as soon as possible... Does anyone know what this refers to?

It refers to Digital Key functionality coming soon. But not yet.

It's rumoured the notification was mistakenly issued - I would not be in the least surprised if that's the case!

If the EX30 will follow what's happening for the EX90 (new update announced today) the digital key will be available only for some compatible iPhone, Samsung and Pixel smartphones.
